Quail Hollow Club (private, George Cobb / Tom Fazio) is the engine — annual host of the Wells Fargo Championship, the 2017 and 2025 PGA Championships, and the 2022 Presidents Cup. The 2023 clubhouse renovation is among the most photographed in the Southeast.

Carolinas Golf Association's headquarters and a deep amateur tradition make the SouthPark area arguably the strongest amateur-golf zip code on the East Coast.

Public play is best at Charlotte Country Club's affiliated public outings, Larkhaven, Renaissance Park, and Highland Creek. For a weekend trip, Pinehurst (Nos. 2, 4, 8, 10) is two hours southeast — and U.S. Open headquarters as Home of American Golf.
