Parks & Greenways
The mature canopy, pocket parks, and growing greenway constellation that quietly define SouthPark's residential lifestyle.
A growing greenway constellation.
Mecklenburg County's greenway network has expanded materially into SouthPark over the last decade. Little Sugar Creek Greenway threads from Uptown down through Freedom Park and into Park Road. Sharon View Greenway connects Beverly Woods to Sharon Woods. Briar Creek Greenway runs through Cotswold. New connectors are under construction that will eventually link Foxcroft and Barclay Downs into the continuous network.
Parks worth a Saturday.

The summer ritual.
Symphony Park, the open green directly behind SouthPark Mall, hosts the Charlotte Symphony's outdoor summer series — picnic blankets, wine, candlelight, and the city's most civilized summer-evening tradition. Long-time residents arrive at 5 p.m. for prime lawn positioning; tickets release in late spring.
Where the runners and riders go.
McAlpine Greenway is the city's serious trail-running and gravel-cycling spine — 7 miles of crushed surface through hardwood bottomland. Anne Springs Close Greenway, 30 minutes south in Fort Mill, adds the regional weekend long ride. The Booty Loop in Myers Park (3 miles) is the early-morning road-cycling and running standard.
