Education in SouthPark
Among the strongest public school catchments in the Southeast and three of the region's most regarded independent schools — all within minutes of the SouthPark residential core.
The public anchor.
SouthPark's residential neighborhoods are anchored by a consistent CMS assignment pattern: Sharon Elementary, Alexander Graham Middle, and Myers Park High. Each is a long-running CMS perennial with deep parent involvement, robust AP catalogs, and competitive arts and athletics.
Myers Park High is among the largest and most academically distinguished comprehensive high schools in North Carolina, with a National Merit pipeline and multiple state-championship athletic programs. Alexander Graham Middle feeds the high school directly and maintains one of the strongest band, orchestra, and Latin programs in CMS.
Country Day, Latin, Providence Day.
Charlotte Country Day School (PK-12), Charlotte Latin School (TK-12), and Providence Day School (TK-12) collectively educate a meaningful share of SouthPark's professional and executive families. All three are non-sectarian, college-preparatory, and accredited by SAIS.
Country Day occupies a 100-acre campus inside the SouthPark loop and is the city's oldest independent day school. Latin and Providence Day sit just east, on substantial wooded campuses. All three field full athletic and arts programs and place graduates routinely at top-30 universities.

Preschool & early years.
SouthPark's early-childhood ecosystem is unusually deep. Sharon Towers, Sharon United Methodist, Christ Episcopal, and Myers Park Presbyterian all operate well-regarded preschool programs that feed into both CMS and independent kindergartens. Waitlists for the two-year-old classroom are common and typically open 12–18 months ahead.
Universities within reach.
UNC Charlotte's main campus and its Center City uptown footprint anchor the region's largest research university. Davidson College sits 25 minutes north. Queens University of Charlotte operates from Myers Park, with its main quad ten minutes from SouthPark. Wake Forest, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, and Clemson are all within a two-and-a-half-hour drive.
School Selection FAQ
Assignments are generally stable within established neighborhoods but are technically reviewed by the CMS board on a periodic basis. Buyers are advised to verify the current assignment via the CMS school locator and to read recent board minutes.
