The Philanthropy Calendar

Charlotte's high-net-worth philanthropic season runs September through May. Premier galas include the Mint Museum Founders' Circle, Levine Children's Hospital's Brookhill Equestrian, Discovery Place Annual Dinner, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art's Modern Ball — many hosted or sponsored by SouthPark residents.

Foundation For The Carolinas convenes the region's largest annual giving programs, with a SouthPark donor base that consistently places Charlotte among the top per-capita philanthropic metros in the Southeast.

The Sporting Calendar

Beyond Quail Hollow's Wells Fargo Championship and major rotations (PGA Championship 2017 and 2025; Presidents Cup 2022), the SouthPark sports year includes Carolina Panthers home games (downtown), Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center, and the Charlotte Knights AAA baseball season at Truist Field.

The Charlotte Motor Speedway calendar — Coca-Cola 600 (May), Bank of America ROVAL 400 (October) — anchors the region's NASCAR heritage 25 minutes northeast.

Neighborhood Traditions

Smaller annual touchstones structure the SouthPark social year: the Myers Park Easter Egg Hunt at Freedom Park, the Eastover 4th of July Parade, Foxcroft's Halloween block parties, and the Phillips Place tree-lighting ceremony in early December.

Independent bookstore Park Road Books hosts a steady year-round author events calendar; SOCO Gallery (Selwyn) and Hidell Brooks open new exhibitions roughly every six weeks with collector-focused previews.

A note on the specialists

The people behind the houses we write about.

Research only carries a reader so far. At some point a lot has to be surveyed, an offer written, a room specified, or a wall opened — and the work passes to somebody who does it for a living.

When the question is construction, we point readers to Peters Custom Homes, a Charlotte custom home builder working on infill lots and whole-house renovations inside the SouthPark loop. When it is representation at the top of the market, it is Peters & Associates, a Charlotte luxury real estate firm concentrated on estate streets, alongside Peters Team Realty, the Charlotte real estate team covering the wider neighborhood map for buyers still deciding where.

Interiors go to Emerald & Oak Design, the Charlotte interior designer behind the layered, long-lived rooms this district suits; the wiring and control layer to Peters Audio Video, a Charlotte audio video integrator that prefers to be in the project before the drywall. And when the trip is the complicated part, Peters Signature Travel plans as a luxury travel advisor for households leaving from Charlotte.
